What is Static Room Hash?

Static Room Hash, also known simply as Static Hash, refers to a hash quality grade in which very fine trichome material (kief) is separated from dried plant material by electrostatic separation. The result is a product with far less plant matter, a cleaner aroma and a finer texture than ordinary sieved hash.

The term "Room" is no coincidence: the environment in which the process takes place is decisive for quality. A dry, cool room with low humidity allows static charge to build up on the screens and surfaces. This charge is exactly what helps separate trichome heads from stem material.

How is Static Room Hash made?

With the static method, dried plant material is moved over fine screens in a controlled room, typically with 73 to 160 microns. The trichome material (kief) falls through the mesh, while larger plant particles stay on top. The static electricity that builds up on the screen surfaces attracts trichome heads and separates them more efficiently from unwanted material.

Three factors are decisive for a good result:

• Temperature: A cool environment (below 18 to 20 °C) makes trichomes more brittle and helps them detach more easily from the stem tissue.
• Humidity: Very low humidity (below 35 %) prevents the kief from sticking and forming clumps.
• Screen size: Several passes through screens with decreasing mesh size increase purity step by step.

The result is a fine powder that, depending on the quality grade, is pressed directly or processed further as loose kief. Compared with wet extraction methods such as Frozen Hash (Bubble Hash), Static Room Hash requires no water, solvents or heat at all.

Static Hash vs. Static Room Hash: what is the difference?

In everyday use, the two terms are mostly used as synonyms, but they place slightly different emphasis:

• Static Hash: describes the finished product, meaning very pure kief obtained through electrostatic separation.
• Static Room Hash: also stresses the importance of the room environment for the process. The room itself is part of the method, not just a neutral background.

In practice, a search for "Static Room Hash" refers to the same product. The name simply underlines the quality standard for the production environment.

Static Hash vs. Dry Sift: what is the difference?

Dry Sift and Static Hash are often used as synonyms, but they describe slightly different methods:

• Dry Sift: Classic dry sieving with several screen passes. The result is kief of varying purity, without a required focus on the room environment or electrostatic forces.
• Static Hash: Emphasizes electrostatic separation for purer kief. Room temperature and humidity are actively controlled, and the product typically contains less plant residue.
• Pressed hash: Kief from Dry Sift or Static is processed into compact blocks with heat and pressure.

Quality grades of Static Hash

Hash is often rated on a star scale from 1 to 6 stars, depending on the purity of the trichome material. This scale also applies to Static Hash:

• 1 to 2 stars: Basic quality, clearly visible plant matter, darker color.
• 3 to 4 stars: Medium quality, good trichome density, fewer impurities.
• 5 to 6 stars (Full Melt): Maximum purity, the material melts completely without residue when heated. This is the goal of top-quality Static Room Hash production.

Full Melt quality is considered the benchmark for Static Room Hash: if the material melts without residue when heated, the trichome content is correspondingly large and the plant content minimal.

Static Hash compared with other hash types

Static Room Hash is only one of several modern hash variants. A short overview:

• Frozen Hash (Bubble Hash, Ice Hash): Wet extraction with ice water, very gentle on terpenes, more complex drying required.

Price of Static Hash

The price depends on the quality grade, production method and region of origin. Handmade Static Room Hash from controlled environments with multi-stage sieving takes far more effort to produce than simply sieved material and is correspondingly more expensive. Full Melt quality (5 to 6 stars) is the most expensive grade, because the yield is especially low.
