What is Frozen Hash?

Frozen Hash (also called Ice Hash or Bubble Hash) is a cannabis concentrate made through wet extraction with ice water. The frozen plant material is stirred in ice water, which makes the trichome heads break off so they can be collected with fine filter bags (Bubble Bags).

How Frozen Hash is made

The process runs in several steps:

• Fresh or frozen plant material is placed in ice water
• Stirring or washing makes the trichome heads break off
• The water and trichome mixture is filtered through Bubble Bags with different pore sizes (typically 25 to 220 microns)
• The collected material is dried, either by freeze-drying (for top quality) or by air-drying

Frozen Hash vs. Static Hash

• Frozen Hash: Wet extraction with ice water, gentler on trichomes, often greater purity
• Static Hash: Dry sieving without water, a simpler method
• Rosin: Obtained solvent-free from hash or flowers using heat and pressure

Quality grades of Frozen Hash

Frozen Hash is also rated on a star scale. 5 to 6 stars correspond to Full Melt quality: the material melts completely when heated, without leaving residue. Lower grades contain more plant residue and are better suited to pressing into traditional hash.

Is Frozen Hash the same as Bubble Hash?

Yes, the terms are used as synonyms. "Bubble" refers to the air bubbles that form during stirring, or to the way very pure material foams up when heated.

What is the legal situation for Frozen Hash in Germany?

In Germany, hashish containing THC, such as Frozen Hash, is subject to the Consumer Cannabis Act (KCanG). Adults may only possess cannabis in the quantities defined there and may only obtain it through private home cultivation or a cultivation association. Retail sale is not permitted.
