HHC vape: duration, puffs and technology simply explained
How many puffs does a vape have? How long does a device last, and what is the difference between a disposable vape and a cartridge? This guide gives you a sober overview of cannabinoid vapes: technology, capacity, quality and legal situation, without buzzwords.

How does a cannabinoid vape work technically?
A cannabinoid vape consists of a battery, heating element (coil), tank or cartridge and mouthpiece. When you draw, a sensor or button activates the battery, the coil heats the liquid to vaporisation temperature, and an aerosol is produced. How evenly this works depends on the viscosity of the liquid, the coil design and the battery power. Mesh coils distribute the heat over a larger area than classic wire windings. The article Vape vs. vaporizer explains the difference between a vape and a vaporizer.
How many puffs does a vape have?
The number of puffs a device has depends mainly on the fill volume, the battery capacity and the length of each puff. Manufacturers usually state the fill volume in millilitres, and some also give an estimated number of puffs. Long puffs use more liquid than short ones, so any figure for the number of puffs is only a guide. The article 2 ml vs. 1 ml vape pen goes deeper into the format comparison, and the guide Vaporizer: how often to draw covers how often to draw.
- Fill volume: stated on the product page and the packaging
- Battery: matched to the fill quantity in disposable vapes
- Puff length: affects how quickly the filling is used up
How long does a vape last?
With disposable vapes, the service life ends when the liquid or battery is empty. With cartridge systems you only swap the cartridge, and the battery device stays in use over many cartridges. So how long a device lasts depends on fill quantity, battery capacity and use.
- Store cool and dry, avoid direct sunlight
- Terpenes shape the aroma: citrus terpenes smell fresh, kush terpenes rather earthy
- Charge battery devices regularly and protect them from deep discharge
